Kenwood Patissier Food Mixer MX270
When I started getting more into baking, the more kitchen tools I started investing in. I started searching for a good food mixer. The top rated mixer was the Kitchen Aid. But who in this financial climate can afford to spend R6,000 on a mixer? So I started digging further and found the Kenwood Patissier. At a fifth of the price I felt pretty skeptical about buying it. But I took the plunge and I must say I am really happy with it!
What I’ve noted: It comes with a K beater, whisk and dough hook attachments which is a pretty cool variety. I don’t use the dough hook because my bread maker comes with one built in, but if you don’t have a bread machine then this is a really awesome attachment for when you’re making breads in the oven. It’s a powerful machine and I haven’t found any amount of ingredients that I’ve added has troubled it at all. It can take up to 2 kgs of cake mixture! I don’t think I’ll be reaching anywhere near that soon! It’s a little noisy but not more than other machines I’ve seen or researched. It’s quieter than a hand mixer but noisier than a Kitchen Aid. I really like it’s retro design. The only colour I could order it in was white from the website where I found it cheapest, but it’s actually really nice. I know the rage at the moment it to buy shocking blue or red or even pink, but I think the neutral colour will probably suit me in the long run so I’m not unhappy about that.
It’s easy to use, easy to clean, a fifth of the price of a kitchen aid and it actually looks really nice.
Over all, my conclusion is if you can afford a Kitchen Aid, by all means buy one; but if you can’t and want a good quality mixer then look no further than the Kenwood Patissier.
