Been away!
So I got married. No need to be so shocked ;)I have been really busy over the past few months sorting all that stuff out and came across some really awesome things while on the hunt for little favours and such.
My husband and I aren't really big event people and so to make the whole day feel more suited to us, we did away with many things that you expect at a wedding. But by doing away with many of the traditions of the whole shindig we tried to make up for it in things we actually liked.
For our first dance we did Chuck Berry- You never can tell. I however won't be posting a video of us doing it, I don't think I could take that embarrassment twice. Everyone else loved it though :)
For instance, instead of having big flower arrangements on each table we had these:
Small mirror boxes means that people can chat from across the table without have to dodge large flower arrangements. Difference, beautiful and effective. The venue (Tres Jolie, Ruimsig) organised these for us but I think any flower shop should be able to assist you in getting them.
We put jellybeans inside (my favourite candy) and printed the names on nice cardboard and bought a stamp from Typo in Sandton to punch around the names. We realised afterwards that printing the stamp while printing the name would have been a lot less effort and a lot quicker but at least they looked awesome.
As you can see, we had the base colours as black and silver. But since it was a wedding I was talked into allowing some colour to be introduced into the colour scheme by the event organiser. I thought purple worked really well with everything.
My hair was really pretty! My hairdresser who normally looks after my hair for me did an amazing job. Her pricing was also really reasonable.

My makeup, which was a tall order because of my skin tone, was done by Alfie Grobler
from Beauty on Wheels (http://www.beautyonwheels.co.za/)
She offers a bridal package which is great because she does your nails, facial a week before and a host of other things to get you ready for your day.
My photographer was amazing! But we were her last professional clients.
I got my dress from http://www.bridalandtuxedo.co.za/
They have a lot of pretty dresses at their shop in Fourways.
Bernard's suit, shirt, belt and tie was from Country Road in Sandton.
So I recommend these people because they gave me such amazing service and made everything a lot less stressful and helped everything come together when I didn't know what I really wanted.
(None of them are aware that I wrote this blog post so no one paid me or gave me discounts for anything)
* Hope this gives other people some ideas to come up with your own unique take on a wedding *
