Why I will NOT be buying Battlefield 1 (or other EA games)

Hello all you beautiful people.

So I decided before I make up my mind about buying Battlefield 1, I would play the beta. A lot of games that have been coming out have been a real disappointment to gamers in general. (looking at you Battlefront & No Man's Sky)

I waited until after midnight for our internet cap to not be disturbed by a massive 6 gig download. I then decided the next night I was going to dedicate to playing the game and giving it a real workout before making up my mind.

The attempt was disastrous. Like when Sim City came out a few years ago, the servers couldn't connect and would crash frequently; and like with Sim City you need to play this game online. Since this was a beta, I didn't mind too much, I know they are doing a public beta for this reason. Eventually, I managed to get into a game. First impression was that it looked really pretty. The graphics on my Xbox One was insane.

Then I tried to move.. no luck.
Then I tried to shoot.. no luck.
Then I tried to look around.. no luck.

I exited the game and went into two more games with the same problem. I would be able to move for a second and then nothing.

So it seems that the core functionality of the game was broken. After downloading the huge file and waiting all day to play it - this was not a good experience. It reminded me of the months I struggled with Sim City and how I didn't want to go through that again.

In today's age of gaming - I don't think this was good enough. It completely put me off buying the game when it comes out. I may wait for a few months and perhaps even for a 50% off sale before I even look at it.

EA is quickly losing a customer.
To watch what I am talking about, please check out this video I recorded of the experience.

On a positive note, I started playing Quantum Break because I finally got a Xbox One and I must say it is one of my favourite games already and I've only gotten past act one. I'll post that video soon.

Until next time,
LLAP
