South African Internet Censorship
Hello my imaginary friends and welcome to the blog. If this is your first time, have a look around and under the menu option "social media", you'll find ways of meeting up on other sites. This post is all about the proposed censorship bill that the ANC government wishes to bring into law. Effectively, this will allow them to run the media and content North Korea style. For instance:
- Don't like the DA or EFF? Take down their sites.
- Don't like OUTA stopping the eToklls? Take down their sites.
- Don't like people criticizing the ANC? Take down all negative reports about them.
- Don't want people to see how much money the government is wasting on state owned companies such as SAA? Don't let people report on it.
- Don't like people buying products from overseas? Stop IP addresses from SA being able to reach those sites.
- Don't like people being able to read what is happening in South Africa from international news agencies? Stop IP addresses from SA being able to reach those sites too.
Their plan, should they succeed, will to bring an SABC apocalypses media freeze on the entire country - just like the government did in apartheid times. This cannot be allowed to happen.
When a government tried to pull the wool over their people's eyes - they know they have already lost and they're are backed into a corner in panic. They think that if we cannot see the university protests happening - they won't lose more votes.
Please go and sign this petition that will be presented in defense of the country against this bill coming into effect: https://www.da.org.za/petition-throw-internet-censorship-bill/
Please note I am not affiliated with the DA.
I made a video about this topic explaining the implications of non-action:
It is with hope that I believe we can stop this from happening and it is our responsibility to at least try. Please share this video wide and far so we can get the message across.
Live long and prosper
