Raspberry Pi / Arduino magic

Good day, everyone!
I love the Raspberry Pi and Arduino. They are so versatile and make home automation possible for us meer plebs. I have several things I want to do with them so I'll be blogging the things that I'm going to do in a South African formatt so that if I say I ordered it, you can too. That's one of the most frustrating things about the internet! Just because someone in the Netherlands had easy access to something, it doesn't mean that here in SA we do too. That's why I'll share what I'm doing.

We also just bought a house so I'll share my journey of DYIíng I do :)

So just to wet your appetite, this is what I'm busy with. I've added the links where I've found things. As I said, I'm just going to instruct on how to go abouts getting it here, they are the geniuses who came up with the ideas in the first place.

The top three for me are:

I love this! It's called a magic mirror. Basically, when you look at it, it looks like a mirror but when the Pi is on behind it, you can see a smart display with information like your calendar, the time, weather etc. What I love even more is the way it looks like an Apple product. This will be one of the first I'll blog about because I'm most excited about it!

Do you remember The Holiday? Great movie. But what always stuck with me is the house when  hops into bed, flips a switch and the curtains close. Are you kidding me? That's the most awesome, lazy thing I've ever seen. I must have it! To be honest, that whole house is amazing.

Have a look HERE to have a look at the automated blinds

This is something I'll be figuring out myself because it's really cool. When it's 02:00 and you want some water from the kitchen, you stumble about looking the light switch trying to get down the hallway without waking everyone up. My idea is to install LEDs into the floor floor cornice with a motion sensor to detect movement and turn on and off automatically. The design I have in mind is slightly different but similar to this:

So much fun, so little time!
