Google's "who's down" app on the iTunes App Store

Whilst looking through the iTunes App Store, I came across a new app from Google called "Who's Down -spring 2016". I'm guessing the name could change but the concept should remain. It's an app that allows you to set that you're available to hang out and what you feel like doing. Then friends can hit you up if they're down for the same thing. Example: it's a Friday night and my husband needs to work late.. Get your head out the gutter, this isn't that kind of app - I think. Anyway, so I set my app as available and what I feel like doing. I'll add movies and drinks. My friend, add name here, feels like going for drinks. I'll pop up as available for drinks and then we can get chatting about where we're going. Neat!

While this is a great concept, I have a few reservations here. What if I am down to go for drink with anyone.. But person x. But person x is, like, "awesome! Sam, I see you're available for drinks, where are we meeting up?" This is going to be awkward and what could have been a fun night out has now turned into me hearing about person x's back ache that just will not go away. I hope there is an option to hide status from person x.

Concern 2. Who will be able to see this? Maybe I had a Facebook friend from 5 years ago.. I don't need for person Y who happens to be a weird stalker knowing I'm down to hang out. I'm guessing it would work on your Google + friends list in which case, cool, because no one I hang out with uses google +.

At the time I'm writing the post, you have to be invited to use the app. By the name of the app, I'm going on a wild guess Google (or Alphabet as the company is trying to call itself)  are planning for an American Spring release (Winter for all us Southern Hemisphere peeps). If you have a look at the images attached, it also requires a school name. I'm guessing their target region will probably be school folk- just like when Facebook started.

In any case, I'm sure it will be widely  released to people of all ages soon.

And no, person x, I actually can't hang out anymore as I remembered I have to check all the batteries in my house a la Suzelle DIY.

The app so far:
